Home testosterone test and monitoring costs
The full breakdown of our costs
The first year of treatment costs more due to extra monitoring and dose adjustments. After that, your monthly fee decreases.
2 pre-consultation blood tests – £19 and £79 (+£35 for a blood draw)
- The British Society of Sexual Medicine (BSSM) requires that anyone starting TRT has at least two blood tests. If your testosterone level is low, the next step is a consultation.
- Test 1 (Testosterone Blood Test) is £19 and measures your total testosterone level. This is a finger-prick test taken at home.
- Test 2 (TRT Confirmation Blood Test) is £79 which is a more comprehensive health check. This is a venous test — it's an additional £35 for a blood draw at a clinic.
Consultation with a TRT specialist doctor – £149
- Your initial 45-minute video consultation is always with a doctor who specialises in TRT, so you'll know you're getting the best advice.
- They'll review your test results, assess your symptoms, discuss fertility, check your eligibility, and talk you through the different treatment options.

TRT medication – £10-60 per month
- TRT treatment prices vary depending on the type and dose.
- Pharmacies charge a postage cost, which is typically around £6.50.
- Injection equipment is usually provided as a starter pack by the TRT supplier, lasting several months and costing around £30.
Monitoring blood tests – from £52 per test
In the first year, you'll need the following blood tests:
- The Monitoring Blood Test at 6 weeks, which is £52 (finger-prick sample, taken at home).
- The Complete TRT Blood Test at 3, 6, and 12 months, which is £79 per test (+ £35 for a blood draw at a clinic).
Additional blood tests may be required if your dose changes. These cost between £43 and £84.
Other costs to budget for, just in case
Here are some other costs that might crop up during your treatment.
Additional treatments – individually priced
- Some men benefit from additional treatments, to help preserve fertility, regulate excess oestrogen, or manage erectile dysfunction.
Extra monitoring blood tests – from £43 per test
- You might need extra blood tests if we need to tweak your dose, change your medication, or if we need to keep a closer eye on certain blood markers.
- Our dose change tests range from £43 to £49. Venous tests require a blood draw at a clinic which is £35.
Review consultations – from £39
- Rest assured, expert support is included in your Leger membership.
- If you or your TRT expert needs to discuss your treatment in more detail, you'll need a 15-minute review consultation to make sure everything looks good.
- Review consultations cost £39 with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or £77 with a TRT doctor.
FAQs
How much does TRT cost in the UK?
TRT costs depend on whether you go through the NHS or a private clinic. On the NHS, treatment is free if it’s available in your area and your testosterone levels meet their stricter threshold (under 8 nmol/L). But waiting times can be long, sometimes up to a year, and you’re unlikely to see a specialist straight away.
Private clinics like Leger offer faster access, specialist care, and comprehensive support. At Leger, the first consultation is £149, with typical year one treatment costing around £1,485 (≈ £124/month) and year two around £1,140 (≈ £95/month). This includes blood tests, medication, injection equipment, and ongoing support from dedicated TRT specialists.
Who provides the cheapest TRT?
The NHS is technically the cheapest, free consultations and only prescription charges, but availability is patchy, waiting times are long, and you probably won’t see a specialist at first.
Among private providers, prices vary. Some clinics charge £1,775–£2,200+ for the first year. At Leger, we focus on fair, transparent pricing with outstanding care, advanced medication options, and unlimited support from specialist TRT clinicians from the start of your treatment journey.
How much does TRT cost per month?
At Leger, year one treatment averages £124/month, and year two around £95/month. This includes medication, injection equipment, and support from specialist TRT clinicians. Other private clinics can be higher, around £130–£183+/month, while NHS patients may only pay prescription charges.
Do all private clinics offer the same TRT price?
No. Private clinic prices can vary widely depending on the level of care, medication options, and support offered. Some clinics charge £1,775–£2,200+ in year one. At Leger, our pricing is transparent and competitive, covering everything you need with specialist-led care.
Can I get cheap TRT in the UK?
You might find lower-cost options, but “cheap” often comes with compromises like restricted medication choices or bundled fees. Leger focuses on value: expert care, advanced medication, and unlimited support - without cutting corners.
